��ɬֱ��SYSTEM ANNOUNCES ANNUAL FACULTY AND STAFF AWARDS

Earlier this month the University of ��ɬֱ�� System presented its annual faculty and staff awards during The Universities of ��ɬֱ�� For Our Future Conference. The annual conference provides cross-institutional collaboration among ��ɬֱ��System faculty and staff. During the System President’s closing keynote, Dr. Jim Henderson recognized exemplary faculty and staff members who go above and beyond their job descriptions to advance the System’s mission.  

“The four individuals recognized stand out as leaders who exemplify the ideals of the University of ��ɬֱ�� System,” Dr. Henderson said. “Whether our awardees are looking back on long, vibrant careers or just beginning academic service, we applaud their willingness to continuously exceed expectations.” 

The award winners are:  

Outstanding Staff Member 
Madeline Husband-Ardoin
University of ��ɬֱ�� Lafayette 

From the first case of COVID-19 in the U.S., Madeline Husband-Ardoin worked to identify solutions on flattening the curve and continuing educating students safely. She worked closely with the ��ɬֱ�� Department of Health to follow the science and create protocols for reporting and case tracking.

Outstanding Faculty Member 
Dr. Philip Auter
University of ��ɬֱ�� at Lafayette 

Eight upper-level ��ɬֱ��Lafayette administrators served as references for Dr. Phillip Auter’s Outstanding Faculty Member nomination. His research largely centers on teaching innovation. During his 20 years at the university, he has worked tirelessly to create opportunities for students to learn and grow.  

Champion of Diversity and Inclusion
Dr. Hiram “Pete” Gregory
Northwestern State University 

Dr. Hiram “Pete” Gregory has served Northwestern State University for 60 years. His work to build respectful relationships with American Indian nations, Creole, and African American communities captures the spirit of the Champion of Diversity and Inclusion award. Dr. Gregory is an educator who works to include all populations. 

Diversity and Inclusion Rising Star
Dr. Rebecca Riall
Northwestern State University 

Dr. Rebecca Riall is the first recipient of a newly created award, the Diversity and Inclusion Rising Star.  She created the American and Indigenous studies and Black studies programs at the university. The Rising Star award was created to recognize someone whose future promises further excellent work in diversity and inclusion efforts.
